The year 2016 was the tenth anniversary of the MA Programme for the Translation of the Contemporary Literary Text (MTTLC). On this occasion, we innaugurated in April 2016 the Bucharest Workshops for Literary Translation. We were supported by the University of Bucharest, The Romanian Cultural Institute, The Writers' Union, and the National Museum of Romanian Literature.
           The poems in this anthology were selected and first translated by MTTLC graduates, as part of their dissertation, and discussed with most of the teachers in the programme. They were stylized by six English poets, who came to Bucharest: Maggie Butt, Katherine Gallagher, Alwyn Marriage, Jeremy Page, Peter Phillips, and Anne Stewart. The poets whose poems have been translated were selected by the Writers' Union.
            A book of poems by the English poets (Six British Poets) was published on paper by our partner publishing house, Editura Integral, even before the workshop had finished. Contemporary Literature Press will soon publish an anthology including poems by the six English poets, as well as a book of memories describing this first attempt at bringing together young Romanian translators and native English poets.
          The workshop proved that, even though the translation of poetry will not help translators make a living, young and no–longer–young translators will not desist.
            The Workshop for Literary Translation will be organized again in March this year. MTTLC and Contemporary Literature Press are grateful to all those who support it, including here Oana Boca Stănescu, who made the event possible in the first place.

            În anul 2016, Masteratul pentru Traducerea Textului Literar Contemporan (MTTLC) a împlinit zece ani de la înființare. Cu această ocazie, în aprilie 2016 am organizat prima ediție a Atelierelor de Traducere Literară București, care a fost sprijinită de Universitatea București, Institutul Cultural Român, Uniunea Scriitorilor din România și Muzeul Național al Literaturii Române.
           Poemele din această antologie au fost selectate și traduse într-o primă etapă de masteranzii MTTLC, ca parte din disertația lor finală. Ele au fost apoi discutate la cursuri cu profesorii programului. Abia după aceea, au venit la București șase poeți englezi care le–au stilizat: Maggie Butt, Katherine Gallagher, Alwyn Marriage, Jeremy Page, Peter Phillips, și Anne Stewart. Poeții au fost traduși la recomandarea Uniunii Scriitorilor.
          Un volum de poeme ale celor șase poeți stilizatori a fost publicat chiar în timpul desfășurării atelierului, de Editura Integral, partenerul pe hârtie al editurii noastre online. Contemporary Literature Press va publica foarte curând un volum de amintiri legate de această primă încercare de a aduce la aceeași masă de lucru tineri traducători români și poeți englezi.
           ATLB a dovedit că, în ciuda faptului că traducerea de poezie nu aduce un venit care să asigure existența traducătorului, traducătorii—mai tineri ori mai puțin tineri—nu se dau bătuți.
           A doua ediție a Atelierului de Traducere Literară București se va organiza în martie 2017. MTTLC și Contemporary Literature Press mulțumesc tuturor celor care sprijină acest atelier, și, nu în ultimul rând, printre ei trebuie menționată Oana Boca Stănescu, organizatoarea lui ca manifestare culturală.
